Chinese Authorities Crack Down on Cross-Border Gambling
Chinese authorities have intensified their efforts to combat cross-border gambling, dismantling over 4,500 online gambling platforms and investigating 73,000 related cases in 2024. This crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb illegal activities and protect citizens from the harms associated with gambling.
Public security departments across China have disrupted numerous networks and underground banks linked to overseas gambling groups. Additionally, four major operations targeting 45 cross-border gambling cases have led to the arrest of over 11,000 suspects.
The Ministry of Public Security has emphasized the importance of collaboration with other government agencies, including foreign affairs, culture and tourism, commerce, immigration, and the People's Bank of China, in intensifying the fight against cross-border gambling. This coordinated approach has yielded positive results in disrupting illegal gambling operations and protecting citizens.

The government is just protecting its own monopoly on gambling. Hypocritical much? They profit off lotteries while criminalizing other forms of entertainment.

I applaud the coordinated efforts between different government agencies. This shows real commitment to tackling cross-border crime.

Prohibition never worked, and it won't work now. This crackdown only pushes gambling underground, making it more dangerous and unregulated.

It's about time China took a strong stance against cross-border illegal activities. This will hopefully have a ripple effect across the region.

Instead of controlling everything, educate people about responsible gambling. This puritanical approach just fuels the black market and harms society.

This crackdown only hurts small business owners. Big online casinos will just find a new loophole. The rich always win in this rigged system.

This crackdown only fuels resentment towards the government. People will find ways to gamble, regardless of the law. It's time for a more open, honest dialogue on gambling.

11,000 arrests – those are the faces of real criminals, not innocent citizens exercising their freedom. Gambling preys on the desperate.

I believe in a fair society where individuals have choices, but also where those choices don't lead to harmful addiction and societal breakdown. This crackdown is a step in the right direction.
