Twelvyy Testifies in Defense
Rapper A$AP Rocky's trial continued on Friday with testimony from his friend and collaborator, Twelvyy. Twelvyy, whose legal name is Jamel Phillips, described the events leading up to the alleged assault on A$AP Relli in November 2021.
Twelvyy claimed that Rocky had reason to fear for his life due to a previous altercation with Relli at a New York club in 2018. He also testified that he saw Rocky with a starter pistol on three occasions, including shortly before the incident.
Twelvyy's testimony contradicted Relli's account of the events. Relli had claimed that Rocky was the aggressor and had pointed the gun at him. However, Twelvyy insisted that Relli had initiated the fight and that Rocky only fired the gun to break it up after Relli attacked their friend.
The defense also revealed that the gun used in the incident was a prop gun, a fact that was not disclosed to the court until jury selection began. The prosecution has not yet recovered the gun and the defense claims they do not have it in their possession.
The trial is expected to continue with further cross-examination of Twelvyy and additional defense witnesses.
