American Ashlyn Krueger advanced to the final of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open after a challenging semifinal against Czech opponent Linda Noskova. In that match, the 20-year-old managed to edge out Noskova by winning a tight first-set tiebreak 7-6 (2) and following up with a 6-4 win in the second set. Her resilient performance included saving four out of six break points and converting nearly 73 percent of her first-serve points.
This victory marks another milestone for Krueger as she looks to claim her second career WTA title, building on her previous success at the 2023 Japan Women’s Open, a WTA 250 event. The upcoming final, however, is positioned in the more prestigious WTA 500 category, and she will be pitted against Switzerland's Belinda Bencic. Bencic had a remarkable comeback in her own semifinal, rallying after a first-set loss to defeat top-seeded Elena Rybakina in three sets, showcasing her resilience by breaking away in the later stages of the match.
Meanwhile, in another thrilling match in Cluj-Napoca, Belarus’s Aliaksandra Sasnovich produced a stunning upset by defeating Ukraine's No. 4 seed Anhelina Kalinina. Despite trailing in critical moments — even facing a third-set deficit — Sasnovich turned the tables in a tense tiebreak, overturning her situation by scoring six consecutive points after a slow start in the decider.
Other notable performances include Russia’s Anastasia Potapova, the No. 1 seed, who advanced comfortably to her semifinal clash against Sasnovich after defeating Germany's Ella Seidel. Additionally, Czech fifth seed Katerina Siniakova and Lucia Bronzetti also recorded impressive wins, with Bronzetti overcoming No. 7 seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto in a contest that underscored the intense competitive spirit permeating the tournament.

This tournament is just a bunch of random matches. There's no real storyline here.

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch another match of this tournament.

Not impressed with Potapova's performance. She should have won that match easier.
