Manchester City has signed Nico Gonzalez from Porto to fill the void left by the injured Rodri. Rodri, who won the Ballon d'Or, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in September and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Guardiola is familiar with Gonzalez from his time at the Barcelona academy and is pleased with the club's effort to bring him in. Gonzalez is expected to help City in their quest for the Champions League title.
City will face Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday. Guardiola expects a tough game, as City has struggled against lower-league teams in the past.
Guardiola also spoke about the racist abuse faced by City women's team striker Khadija Shaw. He said that he stands by her and that he supports all people who receive abuse based on their race or gender.
