Peter Mandelson, the newly-appointed British ambassador to the United States, reacted angrily when questioned about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a shocking interview, Mandelson launched into a swear-filled tirade when asked to justify his close ties to Epstein, which were described as "particularly close" in an internal JPMorgan report from 2019.
Mandelson expressed regret for ever meeting Epstein or being introduced to him by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's partner. He also expressed remorse for the pain Epstein caused to numerous young women. The Financial Times described the atmosphere in the train carriage as icy as Mandelson abruptly ended the interview, telling the journalist to "f off."
The JPMorgan report, which was made public in 2023, claimed that Epstein maintained close relationships with Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and Lord Peter Mandelson, a senior member of the British government. The report suggested that in 2009, when Mandelson was Gordon Brown's business secretary, he stayed at Epstein's Manhattan mansion while Epstein was imprisoned for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Mandelson has refused to confirm or deny whether he stayed at the $77 million townhouse.
Epstein emailed a colleague on two separate occasions in 2010 and 2011, stating that "Petie" was with him at his Paris apartment. Mandelson and Epstein, who have been photographed together on multiple occasions, have known each other since at least 2002, when they both attended a dinner party hosted by Epstein, alongside Donald Trump and others, according to New York Magazine.
A source close to Mandelson stated that he had never done business with Epstein and that they only met through Ghislaine Maxwell. The source also claimed that it was "obvious" that Mandelson would not have taken advantage of young women given his sexual orientation.

We should not allow this controversy to distract us from the real issues facing our country.

The media is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. This is just another example of fake news.

Let's not forget that Epstein was acquitted of all charges against him.

This is just another example of powerful people getting away with exploiting young women.

This is a slap in the face to all the victims of Epstein. How can they possibly trust the UK government when they appoint someone like Mandelson as ambassador?

Everyone deserves a second chance. Mandelson has learned from his mistakes and should be forgiven.
