Netanyahu Credits Trump for Ceasefire Deal, Vows to Bring Remaining Hostages Home
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House on Tuesday to discuss the recent ceasefire deal with Hamas and other pressing issues in the Middle East. During a joint press conference with former President Donald Trump, Netanyahu lauded Trump's leadership in securing the ceasefire, stating that he "had a great force and powerful leadership to this effort."
Netanyahu also expressed his appreciation for Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, who played a key role in facilitating the deal. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between Israel and the United States, particularly between himself and Trump, in achieving peace in the region.
"When Israel and the United States work together, and President Trump and I work together, you know, the chances go up a lot [to reach the second phase of the ceasefire deal]," Netanyahu said. "It's when we don't work together, when Israel and the United States don't work together, that creates problems. When the other side sees daylight between us, and occasionally in the last few years … then it's more difficult."
Trump, for his part, claimed that the ceasefire would not have been possible without his administration's efforts to financially cripple Iran, Hamas' primary backer. He stated that "Iran was in big trouble when I left. They were broke. They didn't have money for Hamas. They didn't have any money for Hezbollah. You had no problem. Oct. 7th could have never happened when I left."
Netanyahu also vowed to bring home the remaining hostages held by Hamas, stating that "Hamas is not going to be in Gaza" much longer. Trump echoed this sentiment, expressing concern for the safety of soldiers currently stationed in Gaza.
"It's too dangerous for people. Nobody wants to be there," Trump said. "Warriors don't want to be there. Soldiers don't want to be there. How can you have people go back? You're saying go back into Gaza now? The same thing's going to happen."
"It'll only be death," he concluded.

This ceasefire is a step in the right direction towards lasting peace in the region. It's important to give credit to both Trump and Netanyahu for their efforts.

Bringing hostages home? Netanyahu's used this promise before, only to break it later. Don't be fooled by his empty words.

I'm hopeful that this ceasefire will lead to further progress and eventually a lasting peace agreement between Israel and Palestine.
