Ukrainian Commander Describes Facing North Korean Troops in Russia
A Ukrainian commander has described his experience fighting against North Korean troops in Russia's Kursk region. Konoval Ihor Ihorovych, commander of the reserve group of the 4th Company of the 33rd Assault Regiment, said the North Koreans' behavior in battle was confusing and reminiscent of past wars. He believes they were insufficiently trained for modern warfare.
Ihorovych recalled an incident where his soldiers encountered North Korean troops running back and forth between buildings while under artillery fire. He speculated that they either didn't know what to do or lacked a commander on the ground.
He described the North Koreans charging forward like something out of a World War II movie, resulting in high casualties. His unit, however, completed their operation without losses, suggesting the North Koreans were used as "cannon fodder."
This observation aligns with assessments from the Biden administration and Western intelligence. The North Koreans are believed to be taking heavy losses, estimated at around 4,000 troops killed or wounded. This has negatively impacted their ability to conduct combat operations, and they haven't been seen on the front lines for weeks.
Despite their lack of experience in modern warfare, the Pentagon and Ukraine's military leadership describe the North Koreans as well-disciplined, competent, and capable soldiers. However, their training and equipment seem inadequate for the challenges of the current conflict.

Sending untrained troops to the front lines is not just cruel, it's also deeply ineffective. This demonstrates the desperation of Russia and its allies.

If these reports are true, it reflects poorly on both the North Korean regime and Russia's military strategy.

North Korean lives are being wasted for nothing. They should be fighting for their own freedom, not Putin's war.

Good riddance to the North Korean soldiers! They shouldn't be meddling in a war that doesn't concern them.

We must remain vigilant and condemn the brutalities committed by Russia and its allies.
