A Moment of Disrespect and Apology
The Associated Press (AP) has issued an apology to Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds after facing criticism for abruptly cutting their red carpet interview with him at the Grammys. The incident sparked outrage online, with many viewers calling it disrespectful and highlighting Edmonds' legendary status in the music industry.
During the livestream, AP entertainment reporters Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria were interviewing Edmonds when Fauria suddenly interrupted to get the attention of Chappell Roan, who was nominated for several awards including best new artist, which she later won. Edmonds, with a gracious smile, stepped aside and allowed the reporters to interview Roan.
The AP acknowledged the incident in a statement on Twitter, expressing deep regret for cutting the interview short and apologizing to both Edmonds and the viewers. The reporters themselves also addressed the moment at the end of their livestream, with Fauria apologizing for the interruption.
However, the clip of the interview continued to circulate on social media, drawing criticism from fans and celebrities alike. Reality TV star Khloé Kardashian called the exchange "disrespectful" and highlighted Edmonds' legacy as a pioneer in the music industry. Singer Dionne Warwick also expressed her disapproval, questioning the AP's decorum and sharing the dictionary definition of the word.
In his own statement, Edmonds reflected on the Grammys overall, focusing on the positive aspects of the night, such as reconnecting with friends, meeting new artists, and feeling the love in the room. He emphasized that music is bigger than any one moment and expressed gratitude for everyone who won and continues to create great music.

Absolutely ridiculous! AP should have known better than to interrupt a legend. What were they thinking?

This is such a blatant disregard for legends in the industry. How could they treat Babyface like that? 🤦♂️
