Barclays Outage Continues, Leaving Thousands Unable to Access Banking Services
Barclays has apologized to customers as an outage of banking services continues for the third day in a row, leaving thousands unable to send or receive money. The disruption began on Friday and has affected over 20 million customers.
Customers have reported seeing outdated balances and no evidence of newly made or received transactions. The bank has acknowledged the issue and stated that it is taking longer than expected to fix.
The outage has caused significant inconvenience for customers, including Paola Mereu, who was unable to complete a payment on her new home due to the glitch. She and her family are now staying with her mother until the issue is resolved.
In addition to online banking, the technical problems are also impacting card payments, branch banking, and telephone banking. ATM withdrawals are reportedly unaffected, and Barclays has urged customers to withdraw cash and continue to use their cards for payments.
Barclays has stated that it is "extremely sorry" for the ongoing technical issues and has assured customers that they will not be left out of pocket. The bank is keeping its call centers open for longer this weekend and will be proactively contacting vulnerable customers.
Customers who are struggling to access funds are advised to seek support from friends and family or visit food banks.

They should offer compensation for the trouble they’ve caused us.
