A royal expert has expressed surprise at a scathing article published by Vanity Fair about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The article, published five years after their departure as working royals, covered the couple's commercial deals and included negative comments from their Montecito neighbors.
The Times' royal editor, Kate Mansey, said she was shocked by the article's tone, given Vanity Fair's previous support for the Sussexes. She wondered what the "pinch point" would be for the couple, and speculated that they might be annoyed by the portrayal of them as bad neighbors.
However, a neighbor has since come to the Sussexes' defense, telling Hello! Magazine that they are a "giving, caring, participating part of our community." Actress Sharon Stone also spoke positively about the couple, saying they are "part of our community."
Since the start of the year, Harry and Meghan have also shown support for the community by volunteering to help those impacted by the recent LA wildfires.

Even in their privileged status, they're still not immune to the consequences of their decisions. This is important to recognize!

I wonder how much of this 'support' from the neighbors is genuine and how much is just for publicity.

This article finally shows the truth about the Sussexes. Their glamour doesn't hide their bad neighbor traits.

I don't see how volunteering makes up for being a bad neighbor. They should work on that first.

The neighbors' comments are brave and highlight the complexity of their reality. It’s refreshing to hear the opposite perspective.

The Sussexes should realize that not everyone will swoon over them just because they pick up trash once in a while.

Harry and Meghan can't play the victim card forever. They wanted independence, and now they're getting called out.

I’m tired of celebrity couples turning everything into a PR stunt. Let's see some real accountability.
