Colorado Woman Convicted of Murdering Boyfriend Over Job Doubts

A woman from Colorado, Ashley White, aged 29, was recently found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Cody DeLisa, who was 28 years old. District Attorney Brian Mason announced the verdict, which relates to events from 2020 when DeLisa was discovered shot in their Commerce City home. White's arrest occurred in August 2020, following the incident.

The relationship between White and DeLisa had been described as turbulent, primarily because DeLisa often criticized White's inability to find stable employment. This criticism reportedly escalated her frustration, leading to extreme actions, including an attempt to harm DeLisa's cat before the murder took place. On August 13, 2020, after a job interview, DeLisa expressed doubts about White's chances of securing employment, which further agitated her.

While on a bus ride home, White encountered an individual known as "Scott," and after discussing DeLisa's purported abusive behavior, they concocted a murder plan. After disembarking, they made their way to the couple's home, where DeLisa was later found shot twice in the head. Although it remained unclear who fired the fatal shots, there was evidence that White and Scott had practiced handling a firearm prior to the incident.

Post-murder, the duo allegedly stole DeLisa's wallet and remained in the area for several days until Scott disappeared. White was eventually implicated and arrested after becoming a key suspect in the case. A crucial development occurred in 2023 when a woman reported her boyfriend, Michael Stratton, had confessed to his involvement in the murder; despite this, Stratton has not faced charges in connection with the case.

After a lengthy trial beginning in January, a jury determined White's culpability for second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery. District Attorney Mason characterized the crime as tragic and emphasized that White's actions directly led to DeLisa's death. She is set to be sentenced on April 4, facing the repercussions of her actions.

Let’s not forget that both parties contributed to the toxicity of their relationship. Compassion is key here.

I hope the jury's decision sends a strong message that domestic violence can’t be tolerated, even if it's the woman who commits it.
