A Life Remembered
Captain Rebecca Lobach, one of the three soldiers who tragically lost their lives in the midair collision near Reagan National Airport, was identified by the Army on Saturday. She was 28 years old.
The University of the South, where she played basketball.
Lobach's family described her as a "bright star in all our lives." They remembered her as kind, generous, brilliant, funny, ambitious, and strong.
In addition to her military service, Lobach also served as a White House social aide during the Biden administration. Just last month, she escorted Ralph Lauren through the White House when he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Joe Biden.
Lobach's fellow soldiers, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Eaves and Staff Sgt. Ryan Austin O'Hara, were also identified. Their families and loved ones are undoubtedly grieving their loss as well.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those who were lost in this tragedy.
