On Friday night, a tragic incident unfolded when an air ambulance plane, which was transporting a sick child along with five other individuals, crashed shortly after its departure from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The aircraft, which plummeted into a nearby residential area, ignited at least six separate house fires in the vicinity.
Witnesses and reports indicated that the crash occurred around 6:10 p.m., resulting in the deaths of everyone on the Learjet 55, including a mother, her daughter, and four crew members. Among the casualties was also one person on the ground who was injured in the chaos of the crash. The air ambulance was operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, a company based in Mexico, and all passengers on the flight were identified as Mexican nationals.
The young girl who was being transported had her destination set for Tijuana, according to statements made by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance to CNN. In response to the tragedy, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro addressed reporters at the scene, acknowledging the severe loss that the local community is expected to endure. Additionally, former President Donald Trump expressed his sorrow over the incident on social media, lamenting the loss of innocent lives in the crash.
