A tragic accident occurred in Pitsea, Essex, on Saturday evening, claiming the lives of two young children. The incident took place in Walthams Place, a residential cul-de-sac, at approximately 6:25 pm.
According to Essex Police, a car involved in the crash failed to stop. Two individuals, a man and a woman, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of the collision. They remain in custody.
Walthams Place is a small cul-de-sac lined with garages and homes. The community is deeply saddened by the loss of the two children.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He stated that specialist officers are providing support during this difficult time.
Police are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities with incident number 931 of 1 February.
