Lidl Recalls Pretzels Due to Potential Burning Sensation

Supermarket chain Lidl has issued a recall for two varieties of its Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels, covered in milk chocolate and dark chocolate, due to concerns that they may cause a burning sensation in the mouth. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised customers to return all affected products with the best before date of June 30, 2025, and batch code 8535 to any Lidl store for a full refund.

The FSA stated that the burning sensation could potentially cause discomfort and make the pretzels unsafe to consume. Notices regarding the recall will be displayed in all Lidl stores.

This recall comes shortly after the FSA warned about a limited distribution of Coca-Cola soft drinks in the UK containing higher levels of a chemical called chlorate. Chlorate is a byproduct of chlorine-based sanitizers and can potentially cause health problems, particularly among children.

Misleading recall information. Why only focus on the Lidl pretzels recall? There's a Coca-Cola recall mentioned later in the text, yet it receives far less attention.
