Mark Robinson Announces Departure from Politics
Former North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who ran for governor in 2024, has announced that he will not seek public office in the future. He also announced that he is dropping a lawsuit against CNN for the network's reporting on comments he made on a porn site.
In a statement on X, Robinson wrote that he was sharing "an important life update" and that he and his family were "turning the page." He cited the "costly litigation and political gamesmanship by my detractors" as reasons for dropping the lawsuit against CNN.
Robinson also announced that he will not run for office in the future. "I will not run next year, nor do I have plans to seek elected office in the future," he said.
Robinson's decision comes after a CNN report revealed that he had made lewd and offensive comments on a porn site. The report also found that Robinson had used an email address on the site that he had used on a number of other sites for years.
Robinson has denied making the comments, but he has not provided any evidence to support his claims. He has also attempted to blame artificial intelligence for making the posts.
Robinson's departure from politics is a blow to the Republican Party in North Carolina. He was a popular figure among conservatives, and he was seen as a potential rising star in the party.
It is unclear what Robinson's plans are for the future. He has said that he will continue to "promote and support many of the issues we are all so passionate about," but he has not said how he will do so.
