In recent days, Russian military efforts have intensified in the vicinity of Pokrovsk, a critical city in eastern Ukraine. Reports indicate that almost half of Russian offensives along the extensive 620-mile front have targeted this area, designated as a crucial gateway to the broader Donetsk region. According to Maksym Bakulin, a representative of the Ukrainian National Guard units stationed in Pokrovsk, Russian forces are attempting to advance relentlessly.
Additionally, the Russian defense ministry has asserted that its forces have successfully seized control of the village of Novoielyzavetivka, situated approximately 10 miles southwest of Pokrovsk. While the Ukrainian military has yet to verify Russia’s claims, a Ukrainian war tracker with close military connections, DeepState, does indicate that the area is now under Russian occupation.
Tragically, another incident occurred in the town of Sumy, where a Russian drone strike resulted in a significant breach in an apartment building. Local authorities announced that six individuals lost their lives in this attack, with ten others sustaining injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky referred to the attack as a severe tragedy and emphasized the necessity for the international community to maintain pressure on Russia in the face of such acts of terror.
