Claire Freemantle, the driver of the Land Rover Defender that crashed into a primary school in Wimbledon, killing two 8-year-old girls, has been arrested for a second time.
Freemantle was initially arrested at the time of the crash in July 2023 but was later told she would face no further action. However, an internal review was launched after concerns were raised by the families of the victims.
The review identified lines of inquiry that required further examination, and the investigation was moved to the specialist crime command in October 2023.
Following the arrest, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford appealed to any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.
The parents of the victims have expressed their disappointment with the initial investigation and have called for justice to be served.

Another arrest but still no justice for those poor girls? This is a clear failure on the part of the authorities.

It's unacceptable that Claire was initially let go without any charges. This shows a serious flaw in the investigation system!

The fact that the case is being taken seriously now gives me hope for the victims' families.

How many more children have to suffer for the system to take proper action? It's disgusting!

Wishing strength to the families as they seek the truth. They are not alone in this fight!

I can't believe it took further review for them to realize there was a case to be made. What does that say about the initial investigation?

How can anyone feel safe knowing that someone who killed kids gets arrested and then released? What kind of justice system do we have?

Justice delayed is justice denied. The families deserve answers and action, not more waiting.
