Americans Divided on Birthright Citizenship, Support Pathway for Undocumented Migrants
A new poll reveals that Americans are divided on President Donald Trump's attempt to curb birthright citizenship. While 45% support the effort, 37% oppose it and 19% remain neutral. This division is reflected across party lines, with 69% of Republicans in favor compared to 25% of Democrats and 38% of independents.
Despite the controversy surrounding birthright citizenship, a clear majority of Americans (56%) support a pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants. Only 24% oppose this idea.
On other immigration topics, Americans are more divided. While 44% oppose allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to conduct searches in schools and churches, 41% support it.
Overall, the poll suggests that Americans are feeling slightly more optimistic following President Trump's inauguration. A small majority (52%) believe the country is heading in the right direction, compared to 48% who believe it is on the wrong track. This is a significant shift from two weeks earlier, when 67% believed the country was on the wrong track.
President Trump's approval rating is also positive, with 49% approving of his job performance and 41% disapproving. This is the highest approval rating he has received in Emerson national polls since his first term.

It's appalling that so many people are willing to turn their backs on undocumented migrants.

We need to be tough on illegal immigration or it will only get worse.

It's important to remember that there are two sides to every story, and this poll shows that.

This poll is just another example of how easily manipulated public opinion can be.

His approval rating is only 49%? That's still too high for someone who's causing so much damage.

It's outrageous that anyone would support ICE conducting searches in schools and churches!

This poll just shows how divided we are as a country. We need to find a way to come together.

Trump's policies are making people feel more optimistic? Seriously?
