China's Navy Commissions First Type 054B Frigate, the Luohe, Boasting Advanced Capabilities

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy has officially commissioned its first Type 054B frigate, the Luohe. This 5,000-ton warship boasts advancements in stealth technology, combat command systems, and integrated firepower control.

The Luohe was handed over and commissioned at a naval port in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The ceremony included the raising of the national flag and the presentation of the August 1 military flag and the naval flag.

The Luohe is a new generation of frigate independently developed and built by China. It has made significant breakthroughs in vessel stealth technology, combat command systems, and firepower integrated control, enhancing its overall performance. The ship possesses strong comprehensive combat capabilities and diversified military mission capabilities, making it a valuable asset for the Chinese navy.

Compared to its predecessor, the Type 054A, the Type 054B has undergone significant upgrades across its systems. It is larger, allowing for enhanced firepower and the ability to carry larger utility helicopters. The Type 054B is expected to take up the missions of the smaller Type 056 corvettes in coastal waters and join the Type 055 large destroyers in far seas missions.

The commissioning of the Luohe marks an important milestone for the Chinese navy. The Type 054B is expected to be mass produced, further strengthening China's naval capabilities.
