Derek Kinnison, January 6th Rioter, Celebrated at California Church
Derek Kinnison, a California man who participated in the January 6th Capitol riot, was recently pardoned by President Donald Trump and celebrated as a hero at his local church. Kinnison, a member of the Three Percenter militia, was convicted of conspiracy and obstruction of an official proceeding for his role in the attack.
Kinnison's appearance at the 412 Church Temecula Valley was met with a standing ovation from the congregation. Pastor Tim Thompson welcomed Kinnison and his family, stating that the church had "wept with them" during his imprisonment and now "rejoiced with them" upon his return.
Kinnison, who claims to have been training to become a deacon while incarcerated, spoke about his daily prayer services and the joy of receiving the pardon. He quoted from Exodus, saying "Let my people go," which was met with applause from the crowd.
The celebration of Kinnison has been met with criticism from some, including former police officer Michael Fanone who was injured defending the Capitol on January 6th. Fanone expressed his disappointment and betrayal, stating that he and his family have received death threats since the attack.
Kinnison's attorney confirmed that Kinnison and his fellow militia members had arrived at the Capitol with weapons for "defense against Antifa." This raises concerns about the potential for further violence from those who participated in the January 6th attack.
