Elon Musk's Remarks to German Far-Right Party Raise Concerns for Jewish Safety

Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), expressed deep concern about the security of Jews in the US and worldwide following Elon Musk's remarks to the German far-right party, Alternative für Deutschland (AfD).

Soifer, a prominent Jewish advocate, highlighted Musk's alignment with dangerous right-wing extremists and his close ties to the Trump administration. She pointed to Musk's donation of hundreds of millions of dollars to Trump's campaign, his current role as a close advisor with an office in the White House complex, and his recent video address to the AfD.

In his address, Musk encouraged Germans to take pride in their culture and values, stating that children should not be held responsible for the sins of their ancestors. He also advocated for moving beyond past guilt and focusing on the future.

Soifer condemned Musk's remarks, emphasizing the dangers of aligning with extremist groups and the potential consequences for Jewish communities. She urged opponents of Trump and Musk to continue condemning extremist behavior and language, highlighting the potential for words and actions to incite violence.

Soifer also noted Trump's failure to issue a statement marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, a stark contrast to his actions during his first term. She criticized Trump's decision to pardon Robert Keith Packer, who participated in the Capitol attack while wearing a hoodie with "Camp Auschwitz" printed on it.

The White House eventually issued a "presidential action" marking Holocaust Remembrance Day as a "National Day of Remembrance," but the statement was released after 10pm ET.
