Alabama Inmate Captured Over 600 Miles Away at Texas Buc-ee's
Melissa Police Department successfully apprehended Pierson McKinnley Anthony, a 25-year-old inmate who escaped custody in Marion County, Alabama. Anthony was captured over 600 miles away at a Buc-ee's convenience store in Anna, Texas.
The capture was facilitated by Flock camera technology, which alerted authorities to a vehicle associated with Anthony's escape near the Buc-ee's. Upon arrival, officers initiated a high-risk felony traffic stop as Anthony exited the parking lot. Anthony surrendered peacefully, and the driver of the vehicle, who also had an active felony warrant for assisting in the escape, was apprehended.
Both Anthony and the driver remain in the Collin County Jail awaiting extradition to Alabama. Anthony faces additional charges related to the escape.
Melissa Police Chief Erik Stokes credited the use of Flock technology and interagency communication for the successful apprehension. He emphasized the dedication of officers to keeping Melissa safe and highlighted the effectiveness of Flock technology in apprehending wanted fugitives.
The Flock safety technology utilizes license plate recognition and provides real-time alerts to authorities, assisting in crime reduction and the location of wanted suspects.
Marion County officials did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
