Texas Governor Deploys Troops and Helicopters to Southern Border
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the deployment of troops and helicopters to the southern border to assist the Trump administration in its efforts to curb illegal immigration. The Texas Tactical Border Force will be sent to the Rio Grande Valley to collaborate with the U.S. Border Patrol.
This deployment includes 400 additional soldiers, C-130s, and Chinook helicopters. These forces will join the Texas National Guard soldiers already stationed at the border as part of Operation Lone Star, launched by Abbott in 2021 to address the rising border crisis.
Governor Abbott praised the Trump administration's proactive approach to border security, contrasting it with the perceived inaction of the Biden administration. He expressed gratitude for President Trump's leadership and commitment to securing the border and ensuring the safety of Americans.
This deployment is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to address illegal immigration and secure the southern border. President Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office to deploy the military to the border, along with other border security measures.
The new administration's stance on border security was evident in a recent diplomatic dispute with Colombia regarding deportations. Colombian President Gustavo Petro initially refused to accept deportation flights, but later reversed his decision after President Trump threatened tariffs and other measures.
The White House confirmed that Colombia's president had agreed to all of President Trump's terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of deported Colombian illegal aliens from the United States.
