Celtic Football Club announced on Monday that they have re-signed Jota, a 25-year-old Portuguese winger, on a five-and-a-half-year contract, pending international clearance. Jota initially arrived at Celtic in 2021 on loan before signing a permanent contract in 2022. He joins the team from Rennes after spending some time with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
In his return, Jota shared his feelings of nostalgia, recalling the incredible moments from his two seasons at Celtic. He expressed enthusiasm for reuniting with his teammates and is eager to start contributing to the team's success once again. He reflected on his mixed experiences over the past year and a half but is ready to put in the hard work at his old club.
During his previous stint with Celtic, Jota made a significant impact by scoring 28 goals in 83 appearances and played a crucial role in the team's victories in the Scottish Premiership and League Cup. Meanwhile, his former teammate Kyogo Furuhashi has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Stade Rennais. The 30-year-old striker, who joined Celtic in 2021, is reported to have made a move worth about 10 million pounds ($12.51 million). Furuhashi scored an impressive 85 goals in 165 appearances for Celtic, contributing to the club's success with three Premiership titles, three League Cups, and two Scottish Cup victories.

I’m worried this re-signing means we won't look for better options in the transfer market.

I just don’t see the hype. We should be investing in players who are upcoming, not those who are returning.

Are we really going to rely on someone who didn’t thrive in a competitive league? Seems risky.

Does anyone really think he can replicate the success he had before? I'm skeptical.

Five-and-a-half years? That's a long commitment for a player who had mixed results.

Celtic needs to look forward, not back. We should be focusing on building a stronger squad, not recycling old players.

Reuniting with old teammates will only help boost morale for both Jota and the squad.

This feels like a desperation move. We should be aiming for long-term success with innovative signings.

Nostalgia is nice, but this is a business. We should be making smart decisions, not emotional ones.
