Danilo Bids Farewell to Juventus After Five and a Half Years
Brazilian defender Danilo has officially parted ways with Juventus after five and a half years, the Serie A club announced on Monday. The decision to terminate his contract was made by mutual agreement.
Danilo, 33, joined Juventus in 2019 and made 213 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals. He played his last match for Juve against Venezia in December 2022.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Danilo expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans. "Dear Bianconeri, I don't even know where to begin," he wrote. "I knew this day would come sooner or later, but one is never ready for goodbyes."
He continued, "Five and a half years have passed, but to me, it feels like an entire lifetime. What fills me with a sense of pride, in some way, is that I have never changed my way of being, nor my way of defending the most important club in my history."
Danilo also apologized to the fans for any moments he may have let them down, emphasizing that it was never due to a lack of effort or dedication. He concluded his message with a heartfelt thank you and a goodbye from the captain.
During his time at Juventus, Danilo won one Scudetto, one Italian Super Cup, and two Italian Cups. He was also a member of Brazil's 2018 and 2022 World Cup squads.
