Tensions appear to be mounting once more between President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, now centered around British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. In a recent interview during a flight on Air Force One, Trump commended Starmer, leader of the Labour Party, asserting that he had been doing an admirable job, and emphasized that the two maintained a strong rapport. Trump noted their plans to have a conversation soon, stating, "I get along with him well. I like him a lot."
Contrarily, Musk, who has previously supported Trump, has consistently criticized Starmer. Earlier this month, Musk publicly called for Starmer’s resignation, accusing him of involvement in serious criminal issues related to a grooming scandal in Britain. He was vocal in denouncing Starmer's record as the country's top prosecutor, claiming a lack of adequate action against grooming gangs, labeling Starmer as "complicit in the RAPE OF BRITAIN."
In response to Musk's harsh statements, Starmer has addressed the situation without directly naming Musk, asserting that misinformation is being circulated regarding the scandal. Musk further attacked Starmer’s handling of violent protests in the UK, questioning the fairness of police responses and labeling the Prime Minister as "two-tier Keir." Musk has also blamed Starmer for a financial crisis in the UK, declaring that public trust in him has eroded.
While acknowledging political differences, Trump described Starmer as a "very good person" during his BBC interview, recognizing his liberal stance as distinct from his own views. He reaffirmed their relationship positively, stating that although the two might not share the same philosophy, they maintain a respectful rapport. The friction between Musk and Trump intensified recently when Musk critiqued Trump's proposed $500 billion Stargate initiative for AI infrastructure. Reacting to OpenAI’s announcement about the project, Musk claimed that they lacked sufficient funding resources to carry out the venture, which Trump dismissed, suggesting that Musk's animosity towards one of the partners might be influencing his criticism.
