A Teacher's Transformation
I couldn't sustain the anxiety and unfulfilling workload any longer. Leaving wasn't just a career shift; it was a quest for joy and purpose.
As a ski instructor, I utilize my teaching skills in a new environment. I connect with children, witnessing their pure joy as they master new skills. Gone are the days of battling outdated technology and unmotivated students. Now, I guide them down the slopes, fostering their self-confidence.
The ski industry offers a tight-knit community and ample resources, a stark contrast to the under-resourced classroom. While challenges exist, even the toughest days on the slopes pale in comparison to the average week in the classroom.
My mental health has flourished. I'm outdoors, active, and connecting with children as they learn and grow. Parents respect my evaluations, and I witness genuine excitement for learning.
Though I miss my colleagues, my life is healthier now. The mountains are my office, the scent of pine fills the air, and my passion for teaching continues to thrive. Whether I return to the classroom remains uncertain, but for now, I embrace my lessons on the slopes.

It's important to remember that not all students have access to expensive outdoor activities. Choosing this path limits your reach to a privileged demographic.

While outdoor activities are great, are you sure you're not neglecting the importance of traditional academics and critical thinking skills?
