Authorities have reported the arrests of three men in connection with a stabbing that took place at The Navigation Inn, a branch of JD Wetherspoon located in Kings Norton, Birmingham. West Midlands Police responded to the scene around 11:15 PM on Saturday night, where they found a woman and two men who had been injured and were later admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, both injured men were arrested, while another 19-year-old suspect was apprehended shortly after midnight following a police pursuit. He is currently held on suspicion of attempted murder amid ongoing investigations into the incident.
The West Midlands Police have pointed out that their region has the highest rate of recorded knife crime in England and Wales, with statistics indicating 178 knife-related offences per 100,000 residents between April 2023 and March 2024, amounting to 5,268 cases. In comparison, the London Metropolitan Police area reported 169 offences per 100,000 of the population.
In a statement, West Midlands Police confirmed the arrests following the pub stabbing and reported that they are conducting inquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage and reaching out to local residents for information. They are urging anyone with relevant information, such as video footage, to come forward to aid in the investigation.
