Kia Recalls Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Due to Airbag and Seat Belt Issues
Kia Niro (2023-2025)
Kia Niro EV (2023-2025)
Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid (2023-2025)
The issue stems from the floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat, which may become damaged. This damage could prevent the front airbags and seat belts from deploying properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Kia will notify affected vehicle owners in March and instruct them to take their vehicles to their nearest dealership for a free inspection and repair. The dealership will inspect the floor wiring assembly and replace or reroute it as necessary.
This recall follows another Kia recall last year, which involved nearly 63,000 EV6 vehicles from 2022 to 2024. That recall addressed a problem that could cause the loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
