Wang Yi Meets with ASEAN Envoys, Discusses Online Gambling and Telecom Fraud
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with envoys from the 10 ASEAN countries in Beijing on Thursday. During the meeting, Wang highlighted a series of serious online gambling and telecom fraud cases that have recently emerged in the Thai-Myanmar border region. These cases pose significant threats to the vital interests of citizens from China and other countries, and require immediate attention.
Wang expressed his hope that the relevant countries would take responsibility and adopt strong measures to combat online gambling and telecom fraud. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the safety of people's lives and property, and ensuring that criminals are brought to justice. China is willing to strengthen bilateral and multilateral law enforcement and security cooperation with ASEAN countries to create a safe environment for the free exchange of people and maintain good order in regional interactions and cooperation.
