The earthquake sent strong tremors across the entire island of Taiwan, with noticeable shaking reported in Quanzhou, Xiamen, and Fuzhou in East China's Fujian Province. Tremors were also felt in Ningbo and Hangzhou in East China's Zhejiang Province, as well as in Shanghai.
The earthquake caused widespread damage in Tainan City, with buildings collapsing and roads cracking. There were also reports of injuries and power outages. Rescue teams were immediately deployed to the affected areas to search for survivors and assess the damage.
