Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, visited the village of Zhujiagou in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, on Wednesday. The village was severely affected by the summer floods of 2024.
Xi braved the cold to visit the people affected by the floods and inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration and reconstruction in the village. He expressed his concern for the villagers and said that he was relieved to see the progress that had been made.
Xi also said that a number of natural disasters occurred across the country last year and expressed his belief that restoration and reconstruction in the affected areas will yield good results. He emphasized that the people can always count on the Party and the government in their most difficult times.

Does Xi really care, or is this just a photo op to boost his image?

His concern feels insincere; it's just a PR stunt to divert attention from other issues.
