In China, the current wave of respiratory infectious diseases, including influenza, is classified as a seasonal outbreak. According to Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission, health monitoring has confirmed that all cases are linked to known pathogens, and no new infectious diseases have surfaced. The uptick in influenza infections aligns with the typical patterns seen during winter and spring.
Wang Dayan, a researcher affiliated with the Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, highlighted that recent surveillance suggests a downward trend in positive influenza virus tests across many northern regions. Some southern provinces are also beginning to report a decrease in cases. The press conference noted that various respiratory infections, including coronavirus and Mycoplasma pneumoniae, are currently at low epidemic levels.
The influenza outbreak this season has been characterized as milder than that of the previous winter, with a later start, expected to peak around one month after last year's outbreak. H1N1 has emerged as the dominant subtype of the circulating influenza viruses this winter, contrasting the previous season when H3N2 was more prevalent.

We need action, not reassurances! Invest in public health, improve access to vaccines, and be transparent about the real impact of these outbreaks! 😠✊

Remember, even if the current outbreaks are classified as seasonal, we can all play a role in minimizing their impact. 🤝😷
