Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun recently responded to a global public opinion survey conducted by the Global Times, which involved 46 countries and 51,000 participants. He noted that the survey indicates an expanding network of support for China. According to the findings, international respondents generally view China's overall national strength as robust, with high ratings in economic strength at 77%, followed by scientific and technological strength at 75%, and financial strength at 72%.
Guo remarked on China's dedication to being a peaceful global player, highlighting its cooperative efforts with various nations to promote worldwide stability and cultural exchange. As the second-largest economy globally, China prioritizes high-quality development and an open economy to foster long-term global economic growth. He stressed that China, as a significant developing country, remains committed to supporting the Global South in their social and economic advancements.
Furthermore, Guo pointed out China's role as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, where it advocates for genuine multilateralism and maintains a fair and unbiased approach. This commitment has earned China significant recognition on the world stage. The survey's findings also reflected a generally optimistic view on China's economic future, with nearly 80% of respondents expressing confidence in its development and over 90% believing that China's economy will continue to progress over the coming decade. Additionally, almost 60% of those surveyed identified China as a key contributor to global economic growth.
