Elon Musk Mocked with Nazi Jokes, ADL Condemns
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has strongly condemned tech billionaire and close Donald Trump advisor Elon Musk for making light of the Holocaust with a series of Nazi "jokes" on Thursday. This criticism comes just days after the ADL defended Musk against accusations of anti-semitism and racism, claiming his controversial stiff-armed salute at Trump's inauguration was simply "awkward" and not a Nazi salute.
Musk mocked the controversy surrounding his salute with a series of puns on Twitter, using wordplay with the names of prominent Nazis like Rudolph Hess, Joseph Goebbels, Hermann Göring, and Heinrich Himmler. These individuals played key roles in the Holocaust, which resulted in the systematic murder of 6 million Jews.
the Holocaust was a singularly evil event, and it is inappropriate and offensive to make light of it... @elonmusk, the Holocaust is not a joke."
The ADL further emphasized in a separate post, "Making inappropriate and highly offensive jokes that trivialize the Holocaust only serve to minimize the evil and inhumanity of Nazi crimes, denigrate the suffering of both victims and survivors, and insult the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Shoah."
This response marks a significant shift from the ADL's initial defense of Musk following his controversial salute on Monday. At that time, the ADL attributed the gesture to "awkwardness" and urged for understanding and grace.
As of now, Musk has not responded to the ADL's latest criticism.

I appreciate that Musk isn’t afraid to make bold statements, even if they ruffle feathers.

I think Musk’s jokes were misunderstood. He’s a comedian at heart!

Come on, people! If you can’t handle dark humor, maybe social media isn’t for you?

Humor can be a way to discuss difficult subjects. What’s the harm?
