Trump's Choice for Secret Service Director
President Donald Trump has nominated Sean Curran to be the next director of the Secret Service. The announcement was made on Wednesday night via Trump's social media platform, Truth Social.
Curran has served as a Special Agent in the Secret Service since September 2001, with extensive experience in protection, intelligence, investigations, recruitment, and logistics support. He has held various leadership positions within the agency, including Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division during Trump's first term.
Trump praised Curran's dedication and bravery, highlighting his role in protecting the president and his family. He specifically mentioned Curran's actions during the July 2022 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he jumped on stage to intervene when an individual attempted to attack Trump.
Curran's appointment has been met with mixed reactions. While some commend his experience and loyalty, others question his suitability for the role, citing concerns about his lack of experience at the agency's headquarters and the recommendations of bipartisan commissions to select a director from outside the Secret Service.
Despite these concerns, Curran is set to replace Ron Rowe, who has been serving as acting director since July 2023. He will be the first director of the Secret Service who is not currently a member of the Senior Executive Service, the highest-ranking officials within the agency.
Trump expressed full confidence in Curran's ability to lead the Secret Service and strengthen the agency. Only time will tell how Curran will perform in this critical role.

This appointment raises questions about the direction of the Secret Service and its commitment to serving the interests of the nation, not just the current administration.

Ignoring concerns about experience and following a seemingly partisan agenda is irresponsible.

Experience matters, especially when dealing with national security. This appointment seems like a gamble with consequences we can't afford.

We need a leader who will prioritize the safety and security of all Americans, not just those close to the president.
