Authorities have taken Derrick Dwayne Thompson, a 57-year-old man, into custody after he reportedly posed as a child care worker to approach and lure a teenager. The incident occurred on November 30 when Thompson, who was driving a black Chevrolet Suburban marked with “CJ Angels Child Care,” offered a 15-year-old girl a ride home, claiming to work for Child Services.
The girl, believing Thompson’s claims, accepted the ride and entered the vehicle. According to police reports, he then drove to a parking lot, instructed the victim to move to the back seat, and subsequently removed the business sign from the vehicle's door. Once in the back seat with the girl, Thompson allegedly assaulted her.
After the investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department, Thompson was arrested on January 15 and has been charged with forcible rape, sodomy with force on a victim aged 14 or older, and sexual penetration by force on a minor. Investigators are concerned that there may be more victims, and they have released Thompson's photo along with the vehicle details in an effort to encourage others who may have been affected to come forward.

It’s horrifying how easy it was for him to lure her into his vehicle. This highlights the need for better protective measures for kids.

This guy needs to face the maximum sentence possible. We can't afford leniency with these types of crimes.
