Judges in Washington, D.C., who have been handling January 6 cases are now being asked by Trump's Department of Justice to dismiss hundreds of open cases.
Judges are expressing their disapproval of Trump's sweeping pardons for rioters and are warning against attempts to downplay the violence of the Capitol attack.
Judge Tanya Chutkan wrote that Trump's pardons "cannot whitewash the blood, feces, and terror that the mob left in its wake."
Judge Beryl Howell wrote that "no 'process of national reconciliation' can begin when poor losers, whose preferred candidate loses an election, are glorified for disrupting a constitutionally mandated proceeding in Congress and doing so with impunity."
Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said that court filings will preserve the history of what happened on January 6, regardless of the public narrative from Trump's clemencies.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson said dismissing one rioter's case without the possibility of filing charges in the future would dishonor the "patriots" who defended the Capitol.
Trump has repeatedly defended his actions while downplaying the events of January 6 and lying about the outcome of the election he lost.

This is a clear attempt to silence any opposition to Trump. He doesn't want anyone to question his actions or his lies about the election.

This is a victory for free speech and the right to protest! The Democrats are trying to silence any dissent, but they won't succeed.

This is a dangerous precedent to set. If we allow people to get away with attacking our democracy, what's to stop it from happening again?

The Democrats are just trying to make a big deal out of this because they know they lost the election. They're trying to distract from their own failures.

The media is just trying to hype this up because they hate Trump. They'll do anything to damage his reputation.

The judges are right to push back against Trump's attempts to whitewash the Capitol attack. We need to remember what happened that day and hold everyone involved accountable.

This is a reminder of why we need to vote Trump out of office in 20We can't afford to let him and his supporters destroy our country.
