During a press conference on Wednesday, Chen Binhua, who represents the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, voiced strong criticism of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He accused the DPP authorities of employing familiar strategies of misusing public resources for propaganda in an attempt to sway public opinion, particularly as they prepare to amplify their media budget for the fiscal year 2025 by almost 70% compared to the previous year.
The proposed media budget would exceed NT$1.49 billion (around $46.77 million), a move seen as a way for the DPP to obscure its failures in governance. Chen pointed out that this budget increase reflects a trend within the DPP to set up a "cyber army," dedicated to discrediting the Chinese mainland and attacking anyone holding differing viewpoints. This practice has drawn significant criticism from numerous groups throughout Taiwan.

This is an important conversation that should force the DPP to reconsider its priorities and how it communicates with the public.

Chen Binhua makes a valid point about the DPP’s misuse of public resources. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed!

This is just another attempt by the Chinese government to interfere in Taiwan's democracy. The DPP should be allowed to promote its agenda without these accusations.

Chen Binhua's comments are baseless and only serve to distract from the real issues. The DPP is working for the people of Taiwan!

The accusation may stem from frustration regarding how the DPP successfully addresses issues that matter to Taiwanese citizens.

The concerns raised about a "cyber army" deserve serious attention; we can’t let misinformation take root in our society.

The allocation of NT$1.49 billion for propaganda is outrageous. That money could go toward better social services!

Criticisms from the mainland should be taken lightly. The DPP is rightly defending Taiwan's interests against external pressure.
