Ball Pythons Seized at Shenzhen Port
Huanggang Customs officials intercepted eight endangered ball pythons hidden on four travelers at Shenzhen's Futian Port. The discovery was made during routine inspections when officers noticed a female traveler acting nervously. Upon closer examination, two live snakes wrapped in cotton socks were found concealed in her underwear.
Further investigation revealed the same smuggling tactic employed by three other female travelers. All four women confessed to being hired to smuggle the snakes in exchange for handling fees.
The Department of Supervision on Animal and Plant Quarantine identified the snakes as ball pythons, listed under Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The General Administration of Customs emphasized that importing or exporting endangered species without valid certification is strictly prohibited under CITES and relevant Chinese laws. Violations can lead to criminal charges.

This is outrageous! I will not stand by and let the government bully innocent people like this.

Is the government really this bored that they have to go after people with a few snakes in their socks? Get a real job!

What about the smugglers? Are they going to jail? Or just the people who were trying to give these snakes a good home?

The government is using fear mongering about endangered species to control us. Don't let them win!

Ball pythons are not endangered! This is ridiculous! Let these people keep their pets!
