The Hobart Hurricanes have secured their place in the Big Bash League grand final after defeating the Sydney Sixers by 12 runs in a thrilling qualifying final at Bellerive Oval.
The Hurricanes were led by a blistering spell from Riley Meredith, who topped 152 kilometers per hour and claimed two early wickets. Mitch Owen also impressed with a quick-fire 36 from 15 balls.
The Sixers fought back through Jordan Silk (57 from 44 balls) and Kurtis Patterson (48 from 33 balls), but ultimately fell short of the target. Jack Edwards produced a stunning one-handed catch to remove Matthew Wade, but it was not enough to prevent the Hurricanes from claiming victory.
The Hurricanes will now host the grand final, where they will face the winner of the eliminator final between the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars. This will be their third appearance in the BBL final, as they seek their maiden title.
The Sixers, meanwhile, will have another chance to make the grand final. They will face the loser of the eliminator final in a knockout semi-final.
