PSV Eindhoven Secure Crucial Champions League Victory Against Red Star Belgrade
PSV Eindhoven secured a crucial 3-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade in a thrilling Champions League encounter at the Stadion Rajko Mitic. Despite playing with ten men for the majority of the second half, PSV held on to claim all three points and remain on course for the playoffs.
Luuk de Jong was the star of the show for PSV, scoring a brace in the first half. Both goals came from headers, the first from an outswinging corner by Joey Veerman and the second from another Veerman corner shortly after. Ryan Flamingo added a third goal for PSV before halftime, volleying home a thunderous strike from the edge of the box after Red Star failed to clear a corner.
However, PSV's joy was short-lived as Flamingo received a straight red card five minutes into the second half for bringing down Nemanja Radonjic on the edge of the box. Red Star capitalized on their numerical advantage, pulling two goals back through headers from Cherif Ndiaye and Nasser Djiga.
Despite heavy pressure from Red Star in the closing minutes, PSV held on to secure a vital victory. The win leaves them on 11 points from their seven matches, while Red Star are out of contention with just three points from the same number of fixtures.

Luuk de Jong’s performance was overrated. He benefitted from a weak defense.
