Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th commander-in-chief of the United States. He has already signed a flurry of executive orders, including pardoning defendants charged with crimes related to the January 6 Capitol attack.
In front of a crowd at Capital One Arena on Monday evening, Trump signed a handful of executive orders, including reversing roughly 80 of the Biden administration's executive policies. After throwing his Sharpie into the crowd, the president headed to the White House, where he said he pardoned 1,500 "J6 hostages" and issued six commutations.
He also ended birthright citizenship and ordered a hiring freeze of federal employees. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump vowed to impose 25 percent tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico starting February 1.
Earlier in the day, Trump's ceremony was moved indoors due to harsh weather — a first since Ronald Reagan's second inauguration in 1985.
In his inaugural address, Trump declared that a new "golden age of America" has started, which will make the country he now leads "greater, stronger and far more exceptional than ever before." He then delivered a dark and brooding denunciation of his own government.
After the ceremony, the indoor inaugural parade included an appearance by the families of the Israeli hostages.

It’s sad that we’re celebrating policies that bring division instead of collaboration with our neighbors.

His actions from day one scream of chaos and instability. This isn't leadership; it's a power grab.

Terming the January 6 rioters as ‘hostages’ is a ridiculous manipulation of facts.

Imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico? This will hurt American businesses and consumers, not help them.

The only thing he’s reversing is our progress as a nation. This is something that should concern every American.

Throwing his Sharpie into the crowd isn’t presidential behavior; it’s childish!
