Emily Damari's recent release marks a significant moment as she was the final British hostage held by Hamas. After enduring over 15 months in captivity, she and her companion Doron Steinbrecher were taken during the Hamas attack on Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7. Along with them, Romi Gonen, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival, was also freed.
Damari's family expressed their relief and shared that she suffered injuries during the attack, including the loss of two fingers. Following her release, she was seen with her bandaged hand, signifying the trauma she endured. The recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas signifies a hopeful turn, initiating a six-week period of calm after a brutal 15-month conflict that claimed over 46,000 lives in Gaza and displaced a vast majority of its population.
Many are optimistic that this truce, achieved through extensive negotiations involving the US, Qatar, and Egypt, might lead to the conclusion of hostilities and also facilitate the release of the remaining nearly 100 hostages captured during the tragic events of October 7, 2023, when over 1,200 individuals lost their lives.

The US should not be negotiating with terrorists. It only emboldens them.

It's outrageous that Hamas held innocent people hostage for so long. I'm glad they're finally free, but it's tragic that they suffered injuries and lost loved ones.
