Leicester City's Struggles Continue with Home Defeat to Fulham
Leicester City's woes deepened on Saturday as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Fulham at the King Power Stadium. This marks their seventh consecutive loss in the Premier League, leaving them firmly rooted in the relegation zone.
The Foxes started brightly, with Victor Kristiansen nearly putting them ahead before the half-hour mark. However, Fulham gradually took control, with Alex Iwobi and Smith Rowe both coming close to scoring before the break.
The second half saw Fulham capitalize on their dominance. Smith Rowe opened the scoring in the 48th minute, heading home a cross from Harry Wilson. Adama Traore then doubled the lead 20 minutes later, tapping in another Wilson cross.
Leicester pushed for an equalizer, but Bernd Leno's heroics in goal kept them at bay. The home fans' frustration grew as the goals continued to elude them, and the atmosphere turned sour with chants of "Leicester City's going down" echoing around the stadium.
"We deserved to be beaten, Fulham were the better team," admitted Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. "It was disappointing in all aspects of the game."
This defeat leaves Leicester in a precarious position, with their next challenge coming against Tottenham Hotspur on January 26th. Meanwhile, Fulham climb to ninth in the table and will look to continue their momentum when they host Manchester United on the same day.
