In the days leading up to Donald Trump's second inauguration, the atmosphere in central Washington DC is defined by the numerous security barriers surrounding significant buildings. Many observers might not even realize that the country is about to witness the transition of power, as Americans await the return of Trump to the White House, marking just three days until Joe Biden steps down.
Celebrations are set to begin with Trump's gathering at his Virginia golf course, where a fireworks display is planned for invited guests. Meanwhile, incoming Vice President JD Vance will host a reception for the anticipated members of Trump’s Cabinet. On the following day, Trump is scheduled to pay his respects at Arlington Cemetery, where he will lay a wreath in honor of American soldiers who lost their lives in service.
The main inauguration day, Monday, will draw approximately 250,000 visitors to Washington, with festivities kicking off as early as 5am leading up to the 12pm swearing-in ceremony. Despite the forecasted cold temperatures, significant crowds are expected to show support behind the US Capitol. Trump will commence the day with a church service, followed by a performance from Carrie Underwood and the ceremonial oath-taking in front of former Presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton.
After the formal swearing-in, the newly inaugurated President will participate in a signing ceremony and a lunch attended by high-ranking senators. Trump's return to the White House will be celebrated with the customary open-top presidential parade, before he engages in a series of speeches at various inaugural balls throughout the evening.

A parade for a man whose term was marred by scandal? Absolutely ridiculous.

Let’s not forget how he handled the pandemic. No amount of fireworks can cover up that failure.

The military deserves our respect, not a photo op. Laying a wreath doesn’t erase the damage he caused.

This is just a big waste of resources. We need unity, not more divisiveness!
