Princess Anne to Embark on Major Royal Engagement in South Africa
Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, is set to undertake her most significant royal engagement of the year thus far. From January 21st to 22nd, she will embark on a journey to the Republic of South Africa, where she will carry out a series of important engagements.
As President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), Princess Anne will unveil the Cape Town Labour Corps Memorial. This memorial honors the contributions of South African military laborers during the First World War. The CWGC is committed to ensuring that all those who died in the two World Wars are commemorated equally, and this memorial is a testament to that commitment.
During her visit, Princess Anne will also undertake a series of other engagements in Cape Town. These engagements include visits to the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA), the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, the Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC), and the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO). She will also visit the Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCC) to meet local communities and celebrate the work of ongoing projects in the area. Before returning to the UK, Princess Anne will attend a reception at the British High Commissioner's Residence in Cape Town.
This royal visit to South Africa comes just months after Prince William's visit in November 2022. During his solo visit, Prince William attended the Earthshot Prize Awards and focused on the ongoing environmental work by organizations in the area. He also revealed to members of the British press that his wife, Princess Kate, was doing well after completing chemotherapy.
Princess Anne's last visit to South Africa was in 2012, when she commemorated the late Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. This year, she has already carried out a number of engagements, including hosting a dinner at Windsor Castle and carrying out investitures.

Why is Princess Anne wasting our taxpayer money on another royal trip? Enough is enough!

Who even cares about a memorial for military laborers? It's not like they did anything significant.
