DeMelo's Late Goal Lifts Jets to Victory Over Kraken

Winnipeg Jets edge Seattle Kraken in a thrilling finish

The Winnipeg Jets secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night, thanks to a last-minute goal by Dylan DeMelo with just 27 seconds remaining in regulation.

Mark Scheifele had tied the game for the Jets earlier in the second period with a power-play goal, while Matty Beniers had given the Kraken the lead in the first period.

Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck made 18 saves in the win, while Seattle's Joey Daccord stopped 34 shots in the losing effort.

The Jets extended their point streak to five games (4-0-1) and improved to 8-2-2 in their last 12. The Kraken, meanwhile, finished their 2-3 road trip on a sour note.

The Jets outplayed the Kraken in the second period, outshooting them 20-8 and scoring the game-tying goal. They continued their offensive pressure in the third period, finally beating Daccord again with DeMelo's late heroics.

The Kraken showed no signs of fatigue despite playing the last game of a five-game road trip. They dominated the first period, scoring the opening goal and outshooting the Jets 11-8. However, the Jets kept the pressure on in the final two periods and ultimately emerged victorious.

The Jets will host the Calgary Flames on Saturday in the final game of their longest homestand of the season. The Kraken will return home to face the Los Angeles Kings on the same day.
