The Toronto Blue Jays have made a move to enhance their roster by acquiring outfielder Myles Straw from the Cleveland Guardians. In this transaction, Toronto received not only Straw but also cash and additional international signing bonus pool space for the upcoming 2025 period. In exchange, Cleveland will either get a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Myles Straw, who is 30 years old, had a limited presence in the major leagues last season, featuring in only seven games for Cleveland. The majority of his playing time was spent at Triple-A Columbus, where he recorded a batting average of .240, along with 18 doubles, six triples, and three home runs during a total of 123 games, garnering 47 runs batted in. Straw also showcased his speed on the bases with 30 stolen bases and a walk rate of 10.7 percent.
Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 12th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, Straw made his Major League debut in 2018 with the team. Over the course of his career, he has played in 562 major league games with both the Astros and Guardians, compiling a batting average of .244. His stats include 77 doubles, nine triples, six home runs, 125 runs batted in, and an impressive 89 stolen bases.
